South Brent Folk Day 2018 on Saturday 7 July was a lovely event with ‘Green Willow Clog Dancers’ and ‘Newton Bushel Morris’ dancing in glorious sunshine, while Nigel Roberts, busked on hurdy-gurdy and fiddle in the village centre.
Unfortunately there were no entries for this year’s poetry competition.
Thanks to all the performers, helpers and audiences for making another memorable South Brent Folk Day.

The 2018 Poetry Competitions will be around the theme of 'Dartmoor Working Life'.
Entry is £2.50 per poem or £1 for Junior section entries (under 15) - closing date Saturday 23 June 2018
Your poem should be no longer than 30 lines. The competitions will be judged by 'Moor Poets' Simon Williams and Susan Taylor.
The adult winner will be awarded the South Brent Folk Poetry Shield and the junior winner a certificate and prize at the South Brent Folk Day on 7 July 2018
Your name should not appear on the poem.

South Brent Folk is enjoying another year of bringing the best of folk music to South Brent. Saturday 28 April 2018: Spring Céilidh with Blue Jewel Ceilidh Band with caller - Kip Pratt (bodhran, fiddle), Mike Vickery (mandolin, guitar) and Aaron Aldred (melodeon).
Sunday 8 July 2018: South Brent Folk Breakfast Café
Saturday 20 October 2018: Autumn Céilidh with Half Moon Ceilidh Band with caller - Anne Gill, Andy Clarke (guitar, bouzouki) and Steve Gill (melodeons).
Thursday 27 December 2018: 'Twixt Christmas and New Year Céilidh' - with 'Buttoned Up' with caller Kate Fincham-Powell, Mick Bramich (melodeon) and Les Noden (guitar).
