South Brent Folk was established in 2011 by the late Eileen McKee and a small team of enthusiasts. The aim was to promote folk music song and dance in South Brent, providing opportunities for top class folk acts to come to South Brent and be seen and heard by local residents, at the same time boosting the local economy by attracting folk from outside the village. The committee aims to nurture the existing interest in folk music in the village and encourage our young people's already thriving involvement in music making.

A start up grant from South Brent Parish Council and a fund raising concert with Blue Jewel in March 2012 enabled further events to be planned, including a two day South Brent Folk Festival with a headline concert by Jackie Oates in July 2012. A second South Brent Folk Festival was held in July 2013 and it has now become an annual summer event.

Having established a pattern of spring, autumn and ‘twixt’ ceilidhs, concerts and summer folk days for 8 years, like many other live music promoters, South Brent Folk has been forced by the coronavirus pandemic to put our programme on hold. We look forward to being able to restart event.
